Los Osos, California (October 7, 2020) – 66-year-old Robert Conlen, of Los Osos, has been identified as the bicyclist who was severely hurt after being hit by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday morning on a highway in Los Osos.

The major injury bicycle accident took place on Los Osos Valley Road, near Sombrero Drive, in the morning hours.

The mishap began when a 2020 Hyundai Elantra driven by 49-year-old Erin Aversano veered off into the bicycle lane for reasons still under investigation.

The Hyundai then struck Conlen while riding his bicycle along the freeway.

Robert Conlen Los Osos Bicycle Crash on Los Osos Valley Road 

Conlen sustained a severe leg injury and was rushed to an area hospital for medication.

Aversano, a San Luis Obispo resident, did not stop to render aid and escaped the crash site.

Officials later found the involved Hyundai Elantra at the scene of another accident at Foothill Boulevard and Santa Rosa Avenue in San Luis Obispo.

Meanwhile, Aversano was arrested and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of DUI and hit and run.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
