Robert Heuer Killed in Fiery Single-Vehicle Crash on I-10 in Palm Desert
Robert Heuer ID’d as Man Killed in Palm Desert Car Accident on Interstate 10 Freeway near Monterey Avenue
Palm Desert, California (October 2, 2020) – The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died in a fiery traffic accident Thursday night in Palm Desert as Robert Heuer, 88, of Palm Desert.
The deadly crash happened at about 8:13 p.m. Thursday, October 1, on Interstate 10 Freeway, just west of Monterey Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Heuer was driving on eastbound Interstate 10 Freeway when, for an unknown reason, his vehicle drifted off the roadway and crashed into a guardrail.
The vehicle then burst into flames.
Deadly Car Accident on I-10 in Palm Desert
Firefighters responded to the incident and extricated Heuer, who was trapped in the burning vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
It was unclear if any other vehicle was involved in the accident.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
