Pilot Injured in Imperial County Jet Crash near Salton Sea
Imperial County, California (September 30, 2020) – A pilot was injured after two military aircraft collided Tuesday afternoon in Salton City in Imperial County, authorities said.
The accident happened at around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, near the Salton Sea.
According to the authorities, a Marine Corps F-35B fighter jet collided with a Lockheed Martin KC-130J tanker refueling tanker during air refueling.
The pilot of the jet ejected safely and was transported to a hospital in an unknown condition. Her name was not immediately disclosed.
None of the eight crew members on board the KC-130 was injured.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
