24-Year-Old Man Killed in North Long Beach Pedestrian Accident at South Street and Cerritos Avenue
Long Beach, California (September 27, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday evening at a North Long Beach intersection, according to authorities.
The deadly pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of South Street and Cerritos Avenue on Saturday, September 26.
Authorities said the pedestrian, a 24-year-old Long Beach man, was walking across the intersection when he stopped in the middle of westbound South Street waiting for eastbound traffic to clear.
For an unknown reason, the man was struck by a 2011 Toyota Camry driven by a 19-year-old Chino Hills resident. He was then struck by a 2005 Nissan Quest that was being driven westbound on South Street by a 54-year-old resident of Long Beach.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident at South Street and Cerritos Avenue in North Long Beach
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and provided medical aid to the injured pedestrian. The victim was then taken to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The two drivers stopped at the scene and were cooperative, the authorities said. Distraction and impairment were not considered a factor in the crash.
