Jill Young Dies in Van Nuys Plane Crash on North Hayvenhurst Avenue
Van Nuys, California (September 23, 2020) – Authorities have identified the passenger who died in a plane crash Friday afternoon near Van Nuys Airport as Jill Young of Pacific Palisades.
The deadly crash happened in a parking lot in the 6900 block of North Hayvenhurst Avenue at about 3:04 p.m. on September 11.
The authorities said the single-engine Navion B plane had taken off from Van Nuys Airport and was heading for Santa Ynez Airport when it crashed for unknown reasons.
The plane burst into flames and was put out by officials from the LAPD. Three vehicles suffered damage in the crash.
Young and the pilot, 62-year-old Jim De Varennes of Pacific Palisades, were killed in the crash.
No additional information about the incident was provided.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the accident.
