Turlock, California (September 22, 2020) – Miguel Naranjo, 38, of Turlock, has been identified as the victim who was killed in a moped accident on Sunday night in Turlock, police said.

At about 9:40 p.m., on September 20, the California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly accident in the area of West Main Street near Washington Road.

The CHP said a 2017 Honda sedan, driven by Cassidi Bessey, 18, of Turlock, was eastbound West Main Street when it struck an eastbound 2008 Fantic Motor Lei moped.

Following the collision, the moped rider, Naranjo, was ejected onto the roadway, officials said.

Naranjo was transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. Sadly, Naranjo was pronounced dead at the hospital.

As per the officials’ report, Naranjo was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
