71-Year-Old Man Hospitalized after Santa Cruz Car Crash on Highway 17 near El Rancho Drive

Santa Cruz, California (September 22, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Monday evening car crash that left a 71-year-old Scotts Valley man seriously injured in Santa Cruz.
The major injury single-vehicle crash occurred at about 6:19 p.m., on September 21, on Highway 17, south of El Rancho Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray Dodge Ram pickup truck was driving northbound on the highway when the driver could not navigate a right turn in the roadway and struck a guardrail.
The pickup truck, driven by the Scotts Valley man, then rolled over and landed on its roof in the southbound lanes, the officials said.
First responders reportedly arrived at the scene and found the driver still inside the truck.

The driver of the Dodge sustained major injuries and was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
