Oakland, California (September 16, 2020) – A 67-year-old woman died following a bicycle collision that took place at an intersection in Oakland Tuesday afternoon.

The fatal bicycle accident happened at about 12:12 p.m., on September 15, at Second Avenue and East 12th Street.

The woman was struck by a U-Haul van while riding her bicycle southbound on Second Avenue near Lake Merritt.

The van was reportedly making a left-hand turn to East 12th Street at the time of the collision.

Major Injury Oakland Bicycle Accident Tuesday Afternoon

Sadly, the bicyclist died at the hospital while undergoing treatment of critical injuries.

The van operator remained at the crash site and cooperated with the law.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected factors in the accident. An investigation into the crash is underway.
