Newark, California (September 14, 2020) – Michael D. Thomas, 40, of Palo Alto, has been identified as the man who was killed in a motorcycle accident on Sunday morning in Newark, police said.
The deadly accident transpired at around 2:20 a.m., on September 13, on Highway 84.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a BMW 550i rear-ended a motorcycle on the highway. The factors that contributed to the accident are yet to be established.
Following the collision, the motorcycle was embedded in the engine of the BMW.

Sadly, Thomas, who was on the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
One other person on the bike was hospitalized in an unknown condition.
The driver of the BMW was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
The roadway was closed for several hours due to the accident, and as of 5:45 a.m., the highway was reopened.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
