Sequoia National Park, California (September 10, 2020) – Garry William Zinger, 82, was among two people who were killed Saturday morning after a plane crashed into the Sequoia National Park in Tulare County. 

Authorities said the plane, a single-engine Beechcraft BE35 Bonanza, was set to take off from Visalia Airport at around 11:00 a.m. Friday and was scheduled to land at 1:00 p.m. at Needles Airport in San Bernardino County, but the plane never arrived. 

Just after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, the authorities located the plane crash near the Upper Horse Creek drainage in Mineral King wilderness. It remained unknown what caused the plane to crash.

Authorities said the plane crash sparked a fire that burned approximately a half-acre in size. Firefighters responded to the scene and contained the fire.

Nepinsky and Brian Christopher Nepinsky, 35, were both killed in the crash. 

No further details about the crash were given.

The accident remains under investigation.
