Woman Killed in Westlake Hit-and-Run Crash on Wilshire Boulevard near Alvarado Street
Westlake, California (August 28, 2020) – A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle early Thursday morning in the Westlake neighbourhood of Los Angeles, according to authorities.
The fatal pedestrian crash happened at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, August 27, on Wilshire Boulevard near Alvarado Street.
Authorities said the woman was attempting to cross Wilshire Boulevard when she was hit by a white pickup that was traveling eastbound.
The driver did not stop to render aid to the pedestrian and fled the scene.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident on Wilshire Boulevard in Westlake
The woman, believed to be 35 to 40 years old, was transported to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The suspected driver, identified as Ramiro Vincente Torres, 72, of Los Angeles, was later located and arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. His bail was set at $50,000.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
