Denair, California (August 25, 2020) – The authorities have disclosed the identity of a 7-year-old boy who died in a car crash near Denair in Merced County on Sunday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened in the area of Turlock and Oakdale roads at about 9:20 p.m. August 23.

28-year-old Tasjuan Drake, of Oakdale, was driving a 2011 Cadillac SUV northbound on Oakdale Road when he collided with an eastbound 2013 Ford Fusion driven by 58-year-old Catherine Brehm, of Coulterville.

7-year-old Drayden Drake, who was a passenger in the Cadillac, was rushed to Emanuel Medical Center where he died while undergoing treatment.

Tasjuan Drake and another passenger, 25-year-old Heather Hill, were injured in the crash and were transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.

Two other children in the SUV sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
