Dana Point, California (August 25, 2020) – 23-year-old Brian Carbonell, of Rancho Santa Margarita, and Mayly Willey have been identified as the two victims who were hospitalized after being involved in a fatal car crash Wednesday night in Dana Point, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.

The deadly two-vehicle collision was reported at about 10:00 p.m. on the PCH at Selva Road.

The accident began when the Laguna Beach police were pursuing a Toyota Corolla near Niguel Road on August 19. For undetermined reasons, the officials stopped the chase, and the Toyota operator, a woman in her 40s, continued driving along the highway.

The Toyota then crashed with a Subaru Outback operated by 23-year-old Jason Carbonell at PCH and Selva Road.

Due to the impact, Jason was trapped inside the car. He was extricated from the wreckage and taken to the hospital for further medication.

Sadly, Jason Carbonell was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment.

Brian, Jason’s twin brother, and his girlfriend Willey were riding as passengers in the Outback at the collision’s time.

Both Brian and Willey were hospitalized at Mission Hospital with major to minor injuries, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Toyota motorist was transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition and arrested in connection with the fatal accident.

The fatal crash remains under an active investigation.
