Fresno, CA: CHP Officer Injured in Alleged DUI Crash on Highway 99
CHP Officer Hospitalized after Fresno Car Crash on Highway 99 near Betty Drive

Fresno, California (August 22, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Saturday morning alleged DUI crash that left a California Highway Patrol officer injured in Fresno.
At about 2:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to the accident Highway 99 near Betty Drive.
According to the CHP, two CHP officers were checking on a broken-down car on the highway when a vehicle, driven by Tristin Renne Zurita, 26, of Tulare, rear-ended the CHP’s car.

A California Highway Patrol officer in the car at the time of the crash sustained a concussion and elbow injury.
Both Zurita and the CHP officer were transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment.
Zurita was then arrested on DUI charges.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
