Benito So Jr. ID’d as Elderly Driver Killed in Tujunga Car Accident on Foothill Boulevard at Pinewood Avenue
Tujunga, California (August 17, 2020) – Authorities have identified the elderly driver who died in a hit-and-run car accident early Monday morning in Tujunga as Benito So Jr., 83.
The deadly collision happened at about 1:45 a.m.on Foothill Boulevard at Pinewood Avenue.
According to the authorities, Davit Davtyan, 21, of Los Angeles, was driving his vehicle northbound on Foothill Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he lost control and crashed into a parked vehicle near the intersection at Pinewood Avenue.
Benito So Jr., who was sitting in the parked vehicle, died at the scene. Authorities believed that So Jr. was homeless and sleeping in the vehicle when the crash occurred.
Davit Davtyan Arrested after Tujunga Hit-and-Run Crash
Davtyan did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the scene, but later returned and was arrested. He was eventually was booked into custody on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter.
