David Brown ID’d as Man Killed in Saratoga Car Accident at Saratoga Avenue and Highway 85 in Saratoga
Saratoga, California (August 13, 2020) – The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died in a fiery crash Wednesday morning at an intersection in Saratoga as David Alan Brown, 75, of Saratoga.
The deadly crash happened at about 11:20 a.m.Wednesday, August 12, at the intersection of Saratoga Avenue and Highway 85.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Tesla crashed into the back of a Toyota Sienna on the freeway for unknown reasons. The minivan spun out after the impact.
The Tesla then traveled down the off-ramp and collided with a gray pickup truck at the intersection. The Tesla caught fire as a result of the collision.

Brown was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Another occupant in the Tesla was also taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Two occupants of the pickup truck suffered life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital. The driver of the minivan, Raffaella Brunello, and another person were treated at the crash site for minor injuries and released.
Traffic on Saratoga Avenue was stopped in both directions due to the accident. The off-ramps from Highway 85 to Saratoga Avenue were also closed.
An investigation into the accident is underway. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the sheriff’s office traffic investigative division at 408-868-6600.
