2 Injured in Nipton Truck Crash on 15 Freeway near Yates Well Road

Nipton, California (August 12, 2020) – Two people were injured when a pickup truck rear-ended a tanker trailer Wednesday morning on 15 Freeway in Nipton, according to the California Highway Patrol.
As per the CHP report, the crash took place at about 7:03 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway, just north of Yates Well Road.
CHP said, for unknown reasons, a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck collided into the back of a tanker trailer transporting liquid oxygen.

Two occupants of the pickup truck got out of the vehicle and laid on the right-hand shoulder close to traffic lanes. Both victims were bleeding from the head.
An air ambulance was requested by responding crews to transport the victims to the hospital for treatment of major injuries.
The driver of the big rig was identified by CHP as Wyles Rubin. It was not clear if he was injured.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
