Steve Holmlund Injured in Fatal 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 246 in Santa Ynez Valley
Steve Holmlund Hospitalized after Santa Ynez Valley Car Accident on Highway 246 at Alamo Pintado Road

Santa Ynez Valley, California (August 10, 2020) – The driver who was injured Friday morning in a traffic accident that killed one person in the Santa Ynez Valley has been identified as Steve Holmlund, 62, of Santa Ynez.
The deadly head-on collision occurred at around 9:02 a.m. Friday, August 7 on Highway 246 at Alamo Pintado Road.
According to California Highway Patrol, Antonio Ramirez Jr., 42, of Santa Barbara, was driving a Ford C-Max eastbound on Highway 246 when he veered into the westbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Ford F-350 truck operated by Holmlund.
Ramirez was pinned inside the wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency responders. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Holmlund sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The C-Max sustained major damage following the crash.
Both lanes of Highway 246 were closed as the authorities investigated the accident. Investigators believed that intoxication played a role in the collision.
The accident remains under investigation.
