Matthew Herron ID’d as Pilot Killed in Lakeport Plane Crash near Matthews Road

Lakeport, California (August 8, 2020) – Matthew Herron, 89, of San Rafael, has been identified as the pilot who was killed in a plane crash on Friday afternoon in Lakeport, according to the authorities.
A plane was reported overdue at around 5:40 p.m., on August 7, by the Williams Soaring Center.
As per the officials’ report, a LAK-17B FES MINI Glider left Lampson Airfield at 2:00 p.m. and was due in Mendocino County.
The police searched for the aircraft using the last known GPS. The plane was located in the area of Matthews Road in Lakeport.
Herron, who was the pilot and the only occupant in the plane, was pronounced dead at the crash site.
Further details regarding the accident were not immediately available.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
