Richard Lorge Identified as Man Killed in Joshua Tree Car Accident on Highway 62
Joshua Tree, California (July 30, 2020) – Richard Lorge, 77, of Twentynine Palms, has been identified as the man who was killed in a two-vehicle accident that left one other person critically injured on Wednesday morning in Joshua Tree, authorities said.
The fatal crash happened at about 10:43 a.m., on July 29, on Highway 62.
According to the CHP, a 2003 Ford Thunderbird, driven by Bronson White, 62, of Twentynine Palms, was traveling westbound on the highway when, for unknown reasons, it drifted onto the northbound shoulder.
White reportedly turned the vehicle to the left, and the car spun across all the lanes before hitting the left front of a Toyota pickup truck, driven by Lorge.
Following the collision, both vehicles came to a rest in the number 2 lane and southbound shoulder of the highway, the officials said.
First responders arrived at the scene and extricated Lorge, who was trapped in the wreckage.

Lorge was transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center and then flown to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he succumbed to his injuries.
White was also taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center with critical injuries.
Both drivers were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the mishap.
The crash remains under investigation.
