Bayview, California (July 20, 2020) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Sunday at an intersection in Bayview, according to authorities.  

The fatal pedestrian crash happened at around noon Sunday, July 19, at the intersection of Bayshore Boulevard and Jerrold Street.  

Authorities said the pedestrian, only identified as a 50-year-old man, was hit by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.

The pedestrian died as a result of the accident. His name was withheld pending notification of family.  

The vehicle involved in the accident was later found in the 100 block of Barneveld Avenue, authorities said. The suspect, identified as Nifo Ufau, 21, turned himself in at the Bayview Station.  

Ufau was eventually arrested and booked into custody on suspicion of felony hit and run, vehicular manslaughter and speeding.  

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.  

The accident remains under investigation.
