Adrian Almaraz ID’d as Suspect Arrested after Fatal Carmichael Crash on Manzanita Avenue near Winding Way

Carmichael, California (June 7, 2020) – According to authorities, Adrian Philip Almaraz, 30, of Fair Oaks, has been identified as the suspect who was arrested after an alleged DUI accident that killed a scooter rider on Friday morning in Carmichael, Sacramento County.
At about 12:20 a.m., on June 5, the California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly crash in the 4700 block of Manzanita Avenue near Winding Way.
According to the officials’ report, a GMC pickup truck, operated by Almaraz, was traveling northbound on Manzanita Avenue when it veered into the opposite lanes and struck Gary Hurlbut, 66 Carmichael, who was riding a scooter in a sidewalk.
Almaraz’s GMC then continued and crashed into a light pole and finally struck a Toyota Camry that was exiting a driveway, the police said.
Sadly, Hurlbut was declared dead at the crash site.
Almaraz was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail. Almaraz was suspected of having been driving under the influence, causing injury or death and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
The crash remains under investigation.
