Jimmy Wasdin Among 3 Killed in Fairfield Helicopter Accident at Lyon and Soda Springs Roads
Fairfield, California (June 3, 2020) – The Solano County coroner’s office has identified Jimmy Wasdin, 41, as one of the three people who were killed in a helicopter crash on Tuesday afternoon in Fairfield.
The fatal helicopter crash occurred at around 1:00 p.m., on June 2, near Lyon Road and Soda Springs Road off Interstate 80.
The authorities said a Bell 206 helicopter, flown by Roscoe Gray, 38, of Sonora, Tuolumne County, was working for PG&E when it came into contact with a 115,000-kilovolt transmission line and crashed.
As a result of the crash, a fire started and spread on the grass seven-acre. The first responders contained the seven-acre fire.
Gray, Wasdin, and Travis Shull, 29, of Chico, Butte County, were all pronounced dead at the scene.
Wasdin and Shull were the linemen in the aircraft, the police said
The helicopter belonged to PJ Helicopters Inc., of Red Bluff, and was contracted to fly on behalf of PG&E, authorities said.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the cause of the crash.
