Somis, California (May 29, 2020) – Authorities have identified the man who died in a traffic accident Tuesday morning in Somis as Matthew Mackenzie, 28, of Camarillo.

The deadly collision occurred at the interaction of Los Angeles Avenue and La Cumbre Road at about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said Mackenzie was driving eastbound on Los Angeles Avenue when, for unknown reasons, his sedan drifted into the westbound lane and collided with an oncoming flatbed truck.

The sedan was then struck by a semi-truck that was also heading westbound.

Mackenzie, who the sole occupant of the sedan, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

Los Angeles Avenue was closed in both directions as crews investigated the accident.  As of 1:15 p.m., all lanes were reopened.

An investigation to determine the cause of the collision is ongoing.
