Bryan Cacy Killed in DUI Crash on Corona Road in Petaluma
Bryan Cacy ID’d as Bicyclist Killed in Petaluma Accident on Corona Road at Highway 101 Overpass

Petaluma, California (May 28, 2020) – Authorities have identified the bicyclist who died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning in Petaluma as Bryan Cacy, 39, of Petaluma.
The fatal crash happened at about 9:28 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, on Corona Road at Highway 101 overpass.
Authorities said John Dethlefsen, 65, also of Petaluma, was driving a white Honda Accord eastbound on Corona Road, approaching Highway 101 overpass when he allegedly crossed over the double yellow lines into the westbound lane, where he hit Cacy.
Dethlefsen continued driving the wrong way onto the overpass, and his vehicle eventually collided with an oncoming Ford F-150 that was traveling westbound.
Bryan Cacy Killed, John Dethlefsen Arrested after Bicycle Accident on Corona Road in Petaluma
Cacy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dethlefsen was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. His bail was set at $100,000.
The crash remains under investigation.
