Irvine, California (May 27, 2020) – Authorities have identified Linda Smythe, 70, of Irvine, as the woman who was killed in a Monday morning crash involving a bicycle and a car in Irvine.

The crash happened at about 10:00 a.m., on May 25, at Portola Parkway and Highway 26.

According to the officials, Smythe was cycling her bicycle when a gray Mercedes ML350 struck her on the roadway. The factors that contributed to the accident are yet to be established.

Linda Smythe was pronounced dead at the scene.

The involved driver remained at the scene and was cooperative, the police said.

Traffic on Portola Parkway was stopped for several hours from Forge to the 261 toll road. As of 4:00 p.m., Portola Parkway was fully reopened.
