Daniel Andrade ID’d as Driver Killed in Santa Barbara County Car Crash on Highway 154 near Cachuma Lake

Santa Barbara County, California (May 20, 2020) – Authorities have identified the driver who died in a head-on crash Friday evening near Cachuma Lake in Santa Barbara County as Daniel Anthony Andrade, 21, of San Luis Obispo.
The fatal crash happened at about 5:56 p.m. Friday, May 15, in the 2301 block of Highway 154, just east of the Cachuma Lake entrance.
The California Highway Patrol said Andrade was driving his 1999 Honda Accord eastbound on Highway 154 at a high rate of speed when, for unknown reasons, he drifted across double yellow lines and collided head-on with a 2019 Ford driven by a 40-year-old Anthony, New Mexico woman.

Andrade was taken to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The New Mexico woman sustained major injuries and was also transported to the same hospital.
The damaged vehicles were towed from the crash site. Debris was scattered across the highway.
Both lanes of Highway 154 were shut down for nearly one hour during the investigation and cleanup.
No further details about the crash were immediately available.
The accident remains under investigation.
