Bakersfield, California (May 6, 2020)  52-year-old Victor Gonzalez has been identified as the driver who died following a suspected DUI collision that happened earlier last month in Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal two-vehicle crash occurred in the 3300 block of East Panama Lane at about 3:46 a.m. on April 6.

Gonzalez was driving his Toyota west on Panama Lane when it was rear-ended by an Audi that was travelling in the same direction.

Due to the impact, the Toyota veered off the highway and crashed into a telephone pole before it overturned. The vehicle reportedly caught fire after the crash.

Gonzalez died in the accident.

The Audi driver, 25-year-old Fashawn Pearson, was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Police arrested the Bakersfield resident for DUI resulting in death and gross vehicular manslaughter.
