56-Year-Old Rancho Dominguez Woman Killed in Long Beach Crash on Canal Street

Long Beach, California (April 13, 2020) – A woman was killed in a crash involving a hit-and-run driver on Sunday afternoon in Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The crash happened at about 4:40 p.m. April 12, on Canal Street south of Ester Street.
According to the report, a 2003 Nissan Altima was traveling east on Canal Avenue when, for unknown reasons, it crashed into a parked 1995 Toyota Tercel. The force of the collision pushed the Toyota into the trailer of a parked semi-truck.
Woman Killed in Long Beach Hit-And-Run Crash
A 56-year-old Rancho Dominguez woman who was in the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan reportedly got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. He was arrested shortly after by the Long Beach police. A passenger in the car stayed at the scene after the crash and cooperated with the authorities.
The hit-and-run driver, identified as Eric Munson, 23, of Long Beach, was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and felony hit-and-run. He was booked into jail on a $100,000 bail.
The crash is under investigation.
