Bakersfield, California (April 7, 2020) – A person was killed in a two-vehicle accident involving a suspected DUI driver early Monday morning in Bakersfield, according to Bakersfield police.

The incident happened at about 3:45 a.m. April 6, on East Panama Lane.

According to police, Fashawn Pearson, 25, was driving westbound on East Panama Lane when he slammed into the rear of another car. The impact caused the second car to roll over.

The driver of the second car was killed in the accident. There was no update on the victim’s identity.

Pearson was not injured and was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. He faces charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI causing death.

The crash is under investigation.
