Velton Johnson ID’d as Man Killed in Long Beach Pedestrian Crash on East 7th Street near Ultimo Avenue
Long Beach, California (March 20, 2020) – The man who was struck and killed by at least two vehicles on Monday night in Long Beach has been identified as Velton Jermaine Johnson, 37, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Coroner.
The crash took place just before 10 p.m. March 16, in the area of East 7th Street near Ultimo Avenue.
According to the report, Johnson was trying to cross East 7th Street outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle traveling westbound. The impact threw Johnson into the eastbound lanes, where he was hit by a 61-year-old Long Beach woman driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Johnson died in the accident.
The westbound vehicle fled the scene after the crash.
The eastbound woman stayed at the scene and rendered aid to the victim.
Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
