Montebello, California (February 24, 2020) – 27-year-old Rafael Flores of Baldwin Park has been identified as the victim who died following a head-on collision that was reported early on Sunday morning in the Montebello.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle accident was reported on February 23 along Rosemead Boulevard, just south of San Gabriel Boulevard, Los Angeles County.

The accident began when a black Honda sedan operated by Flores at a high rate of speed northbound on Rosemead Boulevard lost control and veered into the southbound lanes. Flores’s vehicle then collided head-on with a big rig just after 12:20 a.m.

Flores and his male passenger were ejected from the Honda upon the impact.

Flores was declared dead at the crash site. His passenger sustained critical injuries in the wreck. The unidentified victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

No other injuries were reported following the mishap.

More details about the deadly accident will be released immediately after the CHP completes the investigation.
