71-Year-Old David Pinedo Killed in Sanger Pedestrian Crash on 8th Street and Academy Avenue

David Pinedo Identified as Man Killed in Sanger DUI Accident on 8th Street and Academy Avenue

Sanger, California (February 24, 2020) – David Pinedo, 71, of Sanger has been identified as the elderly man who was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident involving a suspected DUI driver on Friday night in Sanger, according to a local news source.

The incident took place at about 9:30 p.m. February 21, on 8th Street and Academy Avenue.

According to the news source, Pinedo was attempting to cross Academy Avenue in a crosswalk when a car traveling northbound struck him.

Pinedo was transported to the Community Regional Healthcare Center, where he was pronounced deceased. 

The driver who hit Pinedo, identified as Vivian Lugo, 44, was found to have been under the influence.  She was taken into custody and booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

The crash is under investigation.
