85-Year-Old Critically Hurt in National City Pedestrian Crash at East 8th Street and K Avenue

Man Struck and Severely Hurt by Car at East 8th Street and K Avenue

National City, California (February 24, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a major pedestrian crash that left an elderly man with critical injuries on Sunday afternoon in National City, San Diego.

The crash occurred at around 1:45 p.m. Sunday, February 23, at East 8th Street and K Avenue.

As per the CHP officials, a 71-year-old woman was driving a Jeep when she struck an 85-year-old man for unknown reasons. The man was walking inside a crosswalk at the time of the crash.

Responding firefighters along with paramedics rendered aid to the man who suffered severe injuries in the collision. The patient was transported to UCSD Health and was listed in a critical condition.

Authorities said that the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials.

Officials said alcohol and drugs were not factors in the collision.

An investigation is underway.
