Lakewood Man Killed in Long Beach Crash on South Street and Downey Avenue 

Man Dies Days after Long Beach Pedestrian Crash on South Street and Downey Avenue

Long Beach, California (February 20, 2020) – A man died after being involved in an auto-pedestrian accident that occurred on February 5 in Long Beach, according to the Long Beach police.

The crash took place in the area of South Street and Downey Avenue at about 7 p.m.

Police said the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and trying to cross the street outside of a crosswalk when he was struck by a 2003 Toyota Tacoma.

Lakewood Man Dies after Long Beach Pedestrian Collision 

The victim was taken to a hospital with critical injuries and was pronounced deceased on Friday, February 14. He was only identified as a 62-year-old Lakewood man.

The driver of the Toyota, a 27-year-old Wisconsin man, remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.

Alcohol, drugs and distracted driving were not believed to be factors in the incident.

The Long Beach Police Department is investigating the crash.
