Esteban Ontiveros Jr ID’d as Morgan Hill Man Killed in San Jose Crash on Highway 101
San Jose, California (February 4, 2020) – Esteban Ontiveros Jr, 22, of Morgan Hill, has been identified as the man who was killed in a multi-vehicle wreck early Sunday morning in San Jose, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.
The deadly crash occurred at around 12:42 a.m. February 2, on Highway 101.
CHP said a 2010 Hyundai Accent was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway 101 when it collided with the back of a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander.
The impact caused the Hyundai to spin, and it was eventually hit by a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia big rig. The Hyundai then overturned and caught fire, ejecting the driver.

The Hyundai driver was then hit by a 2012 Mazda 3. The driver, later identified as Ontiveros Jr, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The CHP is working to determine the cause of the crash.
