San Jose, California (February 2, 2020) – A man was killed in a multi-vehicle wreck early Sunday morning in San Jose, according to the CHP.

The deadly crash occurred at around 12:42 a.m. on Highway 101.

CHP said a 2010 Hyundai Accent was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway 101 when it collided with the back of a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander.

The impact caused the Hyundai to spin, and it was eventually hit by a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia big rig. The Hyundai then overturned and caught fire, ejecting the driver.

The Hyundai driver was then hit by a 2012 Mazda 3. The driver, identified as a 22-year-old Morgan Hill man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

The CHP is working to determine the cause of the crash.
