David Fletcher Dies after Bakersfield Motorcycle Accident on Coffee Road near Gosford Road and Stockdale Highway

Bakersfield, California (January 4, 2020) – A motorcyclist who was transported to the hospital after being involved in an alleged hit-and-run collision on Tuesday evening in southwest Bakersfield has succumbed to his injuries.
According to a local news source, the crash happened in the 200 block of Coffee Road, just north of the intersection at Gosford Road and Stockdale Highway at about 5:35 p.m. December 31.
Authorities said David Fletcher was riding a motorcycle when he was hit by a white SUV driven by 40-year-old Trumonikia Fields-Johnson.
The report indicated that Fields-Johnson was making an unsafe lane change at the time of the collision.

Fletcher sustained major injuries in the crash. He was rushed to Kern Medical, where he was pronounced deceased on Friday afternoon.
Fields-Johnson fled the scene after hitting the victim. Police found her hiding in a nearby restaurant and arrested her on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected factors in the accident. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
