5 Hurt in Redding DUI Multi-Vehicle Accident at Cypress Avenue and Churn Creek Road

Redding, California (December 20, 2019) – Five people were injured in an alleged DUI traffic collision that happened in the area of Redding on Thursday afternoon.
The multi-vehicle collision happened at about 2:15 p.m. December 19, in the area of Cypress Avenue and Churn Creek Road.
As per the report, a black Acura SUV driven by 24-year-old River Smith of Redding westbound on Cypress Avenue allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and collided with multiple vehicles.
5 Injured After Multiple Vehicles Crashed in Redding, December 19
Five people sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. All victims were attended to by medical personnel who responded to the scene shortly after the wreck.
Officials said three victims were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment of bruises or lacerations.
The identities of the wounded victims have not yet been released to this time.
Authorities affirmed that Smith was intoxicated at the time of the collision.
Smith was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.
The crash resulted in the closure of the northbound Churn Creek Road temporarily as police cleared the scene.
The investigation is underway.
