Ronald Esperanza Killed in Highway 12 Crash in Lodi
Ronald Esperanza ID’d as One of Two Drivers Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 12 near Guard Road in Lodi

Lodi, California (December 10, 2019) – The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner have identified one of the drivers who were killed Sunday morning in a head-on crash in Lodi as Ronald Baoanan Esperanza, 50, of Stockton.
The deadly accident took place at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, December 8 on Highway 12, just west of Guard Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a red Nissan Altima was heading eastbound on Highway 12 when for unknown reasons, it crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a westbound silver Nissan Sentra.

Esperanza and the driver of the Sentra, who authorities identified as Eduardo Ramirez, 25, of Thornton, were both declared dead at the scene.
The CHP said alcohol and/or drugs were suspected to be a factor in the collision.
Highway 12 was shut down as crews examined and cleared the scene. Just before 8:00 a.m., the roadway was reopened.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
