San Clemente, CA: Driver Killed After Truck Tire Hits Tesla on Interstate 5 Freeway
1 Killed in San Clemente Traffic Crash on Interstate 5 Freeway
San Clemente, California (November 22, 2019) – A driver was killed after a semi-truck tire came off and hit aTesla in San Clemente on Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened at around 8:53 a.m.November 22, on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway.
Police said the white container truck tire possibly bounced over the center divider from the southbound side of the Interstate 5 and slammed into the Tesla that was traveling northbound on the freeway.
The initial report indicated that the truck, which had XPO written in red on the side, pulled over onto the shoulder and stopped by the Cristianitos Road off-ramp.

The Tesla operator was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the fatal crash.
