1 Killed, 2 Injured in Highway 108 Head-On Crash in Oakdale
57-Year-Old Modesto Man Killed, 2 Injured in Oakdale Car Accident on Highway 108 near Lancaster Road
Oakdale, California (November 17, 2019) – One person was killed and two others were injured Sunday morning in a head-on crash in Oakdale, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly accident took place at around 8:45 a.m. on Highway 108, approximately three miles east of Lancaster Road.
The CHP said Hector Ramos Jose, 83, of Oakdale, was driving a 2015 Nissan Rogue compact SUV eastbound on Highway 108 when for an unknown reason, the SUV crossed the solid center lines on a curve and went into the path of a small, 1993 Toyota pickup truck operated by a 57-year-old Modesto man.
Both vehicles eventually collided head-on.
The pickup driver died at the scene at 9:01 a.m. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
A 35-year-old woman who was riding as a passenger in the pickup was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with head trauma.
Jose sustained major injuries and was transported to Memorial Medical Center.
As of 11:50 a.m. Highway 108 was reopened.
The accident remains under investigation.
