Fillmore, CA: Deputy Broadsided by Pickup Truck on Highway 126

Fillmore, California (October 21, 2019) – A Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a broadside crash Sunday night on Highway 126, according to authorities.

The accident happened at about 9:05 p.m. on Highway 126 at C Street.

The crash involved a Ventura County Sheriff’s patrol car and a pickup truck.

“One of our deputies pulled out onto Highway 126 on a green light and was broadsided by a pickup truck that ran a red light,” Capt. Eric Buschow said.

The deputy and the driver of the pickup appeared OK but were evaluated for complaints of pain at the scene.

The patrol car acquired significant damage, with all of the airbags deployed.

The crash is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
