South Lake Tahoe, California (October 8, 2019) – 20-year-old Marlon Cruz was arrested after an alleged hit-and-run pedestrian accident Sunday night in the area of South Lake Tahoe, according to a local news source.

The deadly crash happened at around 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 6, on Lake Tahoe Boulevard near Fairview Avenue.

As per the report, a man in his 70s was crossing Lake Tahoe Boulevard when for reasons still under investigation he was struck by a black sedan driven by Cruz. The impact sent Cruz onto the sidewalk.

Responding firefighters declared the male pedestrian dead at the crash site. The victim’s name was not immediately released awaiting notification of next of kin.

Cruz reportedly fled the scene after the crash. He later handed himself into the police early Monday morning and told officials he might have been involved in a traffic collision.

He was later arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run. Cruz was booked into El Dorado County Jail with a bail set at $75,000.

An investigation is underway.
