Sacramento County, California (October 7, 2019) – A driver suspected to be involved in a hit-and-run crash that left an elderly Army Veteran dead in McClellan Park, Sacramento County on Tuesday morning has been arrested.

The incident happened in the area of Palm Street and Arnold Avenue on Tuesday, October 1.

CHP said William Hester, 73, and his wife Deborah were trying to cross the street to a dentist appointment when a vehicle struck Hester.

Hester, a Vietnam veteran, reportedly pushed his wife out of the way and she was not struck.

Emergency crews responded to the incident and performed CPR on Hester but he died at the scene of the collision.

William Beasley Arrested Following Sacramento County Hit-And-Run Crash

The driver of the involved vehicle reportedly fled the scene after the accident. Police have arrested 70-year-old William Nathaniel Beasley, from Antelope, in connection with the crash.

Beasley faces felony hit-and-run and manslaughter charges.

The incident is under investigation.
