Santa Maria, California (October 4, 2019) – One person was hospitalized after a DUI collision Wednesday evening in the area of Santa Maria, according to a local news source.
The crash happened at an unspecified time Wednesday, October 2, at Blosser and Betteravia Roads.
As per the report, police tried to stop a car that was traveling without headlights near the junction. 30-year-old Andy Mena, the car driver, failed to stop and he led the authorities on a chase. Mena slammed into a police cruiser and then crashed into the rear of a vehicle stopped at a red light at the junction.

The driver of the other car sustained injuries following the collision. The victim was taken to Marian Hospital for treatment of injuries of unknown degree. The name of the patient and their current condition were not immediately released.
Officials arrested Mena after the collision. Officials said Mena had at least three prior convictions for DUI, driving with a suspended license that resulted from a DUI, and had an outstanding felony warrant. Mena was taken to Santa Barbara County Jail for these charges and felony DUI causing injuries.
