Modesto, California (September 27, 2019) – A pilot was injured when a plane crashed Friday night in Modesto, according to authorities.

The accident, which was reported at around 7:50 p.m., happened on Highway 99 near Crows Landing Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the single-engine Piper Dakota crashed landed on Highway 99. The aircraft burst into flames after the crash.

The pilot, a 59-year-old Santa Cruz man, sustained minor injuries in the accident.

All southbound lanes were closed following the crash. Motorists were diverted off the highway.

Details of what led up to the crash are unknown at this time. The accident remains under investigation by authorities.
