Smith River, California (September 27, 2019) – James Woodley, 63, was among three people who were injured in a traffic accident that happened Wednesday afternoon in Smith River.

The wreck occurred at around 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25 on U.S. Highway 101, just south of Crissey Road.

Authorities said a 1997 Toyota Rav4 was heading northbound on U.S. Highway 101 when it suddenly drifted into the southbound lane, where it collided head-on with a 2004 Lexus RX330.

Woodley, who was riding as a passenger in the Lexus, suffered minor injuries. Both drivers suffered major injuries.

All three victims were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City.

Both vehicles were towed away from the crash site.

The crash remains under investigation.
