Man Dies in Merced Bicycle Crash on Highway 59 at West Olive Avenue
Merced, California (September 26, 2019) – A bicyclist was killed in a collision with a box truck on Tuesday afternoon in Merced, according to the Merced police.
The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. September 25, on Highway 59 at West Olive Avenue.
Police said a man was riding a bike northbound on Highway 59 when the truck hit him as it tried to turn right onto West Olive Avenue.
Rider Dies in Merced Bicycle Crash, September 25
The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity was not immediately released.
The 57-year-old driver of the truck stayed at the scene and reportedly cooperated with the investigators.
Police said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be factors in the crash.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
