45-Year-Old Man Injured in Kearny Mesa Bicycle Crash at Hickman Field Drive and Copley Drive
Kearny Mesa, California (September 19, 2019) – A bicycle rider was injured in a traffic collision on Wednesday night in Kearny Mesa, according to the San Diego police.
The crash took place at about 9:35 p.m. September 18, at Hickman Field Drive and Copley Drive.
Police said a 45-year-old man was riding a bike northbound against traffic on Hickman Field Drive when he traveled through a red light at the intersection and was hit by a 2018 Lexus SUV.
Bicyclist Injured in Kearny Mesa Crash
The rider was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV, a 47-year-old woman, was unhurt in the crash.
Police said alcohol and drugs were unlikely factors in the crash.
The incident is under investigation.
